Lindsay Lohan Ordered To Give Deposition
11/29/2007
Lindsay Lohan’s latest film role will be in court - after a judge ruled she must provide video taped evidence for a lawsuit against the starlet.
The Mean Girls actress will go in front of the cameras to give evidence over an alleged drink-driving incident.
Raymundo Ortega sued Lohan after he claimed she had been drinking at the Ivy restaurant in Los Angeles when she crashed her black Mercedes-Benz into his van in October 2005.
He also asserts the star was not paying attention to the road because she was fleeing a flock of paparazzi. He is suing her for at least 0,000 in damages.
Lohan’s laywers hoped to prevent the videotaped deposition - claiming it would be leaked to the media for profitable purposes.
A spokesman for the 21-year-old star said: “If a single picture of Ms. Lohan can sell for thousands of dollars, a videotape of the deposition will undoubtedly sell for tens of thousands of dollars, or more.”
But Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Stern said today (Wednesday) that the deposition can be recorded.
Lohan says that Ortega’s claims that she was drinking are inaccurate and unsupported by police documents. She countersued him and is asking for more than ,000 in damages for the repair of her car and the cost of renting other vehicles, it was reported today.
Lohan cited a California Highway Patrol report of the incident, which states she was sober and that Ortega was responsible.
Ortega’s lawyer claims the report is “hearsay” because no field-sobriety test was conducted.
