Lindsay Lohan in New Drink-Driving Claim
09/13/2007
Lindsay Lohan has been named in yet another drunk driving case and this time around the actress has been sued for 0,000 over a 2005 road crash. Raymundo Ortega claims that the 21-year-old actress was drunk when she hit her Mercedes in his van two years ago.
Although the California Highway Patrol concluded that the crash was caused after Ortega made an illegal U-turn, Ortega's attorneys claim that Lohan was drunk and should take the responsibility of the crash.
"This case is about responsibility and she's not taking responsibility," AP quoted Ortega's lawyer, Robert G. Klein, as saying.
Lohan's attorney, David J. Ozeran, said there was no evidence that his client was driving under influence of alcohol.
The judge has set a trial date for April 7.
The lawsuit comes less than a month after the "Mean Girls" star agreed to spend a day in jail and complete a drug treatment program after pleading guilty to misdemeanor drunken driving and cocaine charges stemming from arrests earlier this year in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica.
